Exploring different types of Resumes

Your resume is your passport to the professional world, and crafting it effectively can be the key to unlocking exciting job opportunities. However, not all resumes are created equal. Different industries, career stages, and personal preferences call for various resume formats. In this blog post, we will dive into different types of resumes and provide context for each, helping you choose the one that suits your unique circumstances.

  1. Chronological ResumeThe chronological resume is the most traditional and widely used format. It organizes your work experience in reverse chronological order, starting with your most recent job and working backward. This format is ideal for those with a consistent work history and progressive career growth. It highlights your career trajectory, making it easy for recruiters to see your advancement.
    • When to use it: If you have a stable job history with no significant employment gaps and want to showcase your career progression clearly.
  2. Functional ResumeA functional resume focuses on your skills and qualifications rather than your work history. It’s perfect if you want to emphasize your abilities and achievements, especially when your job history is scattered or you’re changing careers. This format helps you shine a spotlight on transferable skills and relevant accomplishments.
    • When to use it: When transitioning to a new career, have gaps in your employment history, or want to emphasize skills over work experience.
  3. Combination/Hybrid ResumeAs the name suggests, this resume combines elements of both chronological and functional formats. It provides a balanced view of your work history and skills. The combination resume allows you to showcase your qualifications while maintaining a clear work history timeline, making it versatile and suitable for various situations.
    • When to use it: If you have a strong skill set and want to highlight it while also providing a chronological overview of your work experience.
  4. Targeted ResumeA targeted resume is customized for a specific job or industry. It tailors your qualifications, skills, and experiences to align perfectly with the job you’re applying for. While more time-consuming to create, this type of resume increases your chances of landing the job by showing employers that you are the ideal candidate.
    • When to use it: When you want to make a strong impression for a specific job or industry, and you’re willing to put in the effort to tailor your resume accordingly.
  5. Creative ResumeCreative resumes are designed to stand out visually. They use unconventional layouts, fonts, and graphics to capture the reader’s attention. These can be beneficial in creative fields like design, marketing, or advertising, where showcasing your creativity and visual skills is essential.
    • When to use it: In creative industries where an eye-catching design can help demonstrate your skills, or when you want to stand out from the competition.
  6. Digital/Online ResumeIn the digital age, having an online presence is crucial. A digital resume is a web-based or multimedia version that allows you to incorporate links, videos, and interactive elements. This type of resume is excellent for tech-savvy professionals or those seeking positions in the digital realm.
    • When to use it: In tech-related roles or when you want to showcase your online presence and digital skills.

The perfect resume varies depending on your career stage, industry, and personal preferences. Whether you opt for a traditional chronological resume, a skills-focused functional resume, or something more creative, understanding the different types of resumes and their contexts is essential. Tailoring your resume to your specific needs will help you make a lasting impression on potential employers and increase your chances of landing your dream job. Remember, your resume is your personal brand, so choose the format that best represents you and your unique qualifications.

How to Fix Route Model Binding Issue with Laravel Sanctum

If you’re a Laravel developer who’s working with Sanctum for API authentication, you may have run into an issue with route model binding. Specifically, Sanctum seems to ignore the SubstituteBindings middleware that’s responsible for binding route model parameters to their corresponding Eloquent models.

Fortunately, there’s a relatively easy solution to this problem. In this post, I’ll explain how to fix the issue by adding a new middleware alias and updating your route definitions.

The Problem

First, let’s briefly summarize the issue. When you use Sanctum to protect your API routes, it adds its own middleware to the route stack. This middleware checks the incoming request for a valid authentication token, and if one is found, it sets the current user on the request object.

However, this process seems to interfere with the SubstituteBindings middleware that’s included in Laravel by default. This middleware is responsible for automatically binding route model parameters to their corresponding Eloquent models. Without it, you would need to manually query the database to retrieve the model instance for each parameter.

The problem arises because Sanctum’s middleware is executed before SubstituteBindings. As a result, any route model parameters in your route definitions are not automatically bound to their corresponding models, even though you may have set up the required route model bindings in your RouteServiceProvider.

The Solution

To fix this issue, we need to ensure that SubstituteBindings is executed before Sanctum’s middleware. To do this, we’ll add a new middleware alias and update our route definitions accordingly.

Step 1: Add a New Middleware Alias

The first step is to add a new middleware alias that points to SubstituteBindings. This will allow us to reference the middleware by a shorter name in our route definitions.

To do this, open your App\Http\Kernel class and add the following line to the $middlewareAliases property:

'bindings' => \Illuminate\Routing\Middleware\SubstituteBindings::class,

This will add a new alias called bindings that points to SubstituteBindings.

Step 2: Update Your Route Definitions

Next, we need to update our route definitions to include the new bindings middleware. Specifically, we need to add it after Sanctum’s middleware in the route stack.

For example, let’s say you have the following route definition:

Route::get('/users/{user}', function (User $user) {
    return $user;

To fix the issue, we need to add the bindings middleware after auth:sanctum, like so:

Route::get('/users/{user}', function (User $user) {
    return $user;
})->middleware('auth:sanctum', 'bindings');

This will ensure that SubstituteBindings is executed after Sanctum’s middleware, allowing route model parameters to be automatically bound to their corresponding Eloquent models.

Step 3: Repeat for All Relevant Routes

Finally, you’ll need to repeat Step 2 for all relevant routes in your application. This includes any routes that use route model binding and are protected by Sanctum.

In this post, we’ve looked at how to fix an issue with Laravel Sanctum that prevents route model parameters from being automatically bound to their corresponding Eloquent models. The solution involves adding a new middleware alias and updating your route definitions to include the SubstituteBindings middleware after Sanctum’s middleware.

Ubuntu Ctrl+Z problems solved

After Installing Ubuntu 20.04 on my Home PC and setup everything needed as developer and started doing my work – writing code in PHPStorm, I have faced an issue with my keyboard shortcuts.

As developers we do to much get backs in coding process and Ctrl+Z is used more than in any process of writing in PC-s so without it we would feel the emptiness of our keyboard.

So i started looking in web for similar problems and could not found the solution. Tried this link from: but weakness of information did not help. I’ve tried stack-overflow many posts but could not found the solution at all.

Digging deep in my setup history on my brain memory it came to me that i have added other languages on my Region & Language settings and have changed the order of Languages in the interface and this was my problem.

How to solve Keyboard shortcut problems for different languages in Ubuntu:

  1. Go to Ubuntu settings from the top right corner.
  2. Region & Language

  3. And make the order as in the image so that all default keys be in English if your keyboard is English Version.

If your keyboard is in different language, please make sure to order first the real language your keyboard is made for.

Group Of Happy Coworkers Discussing In Conference Room

A resume is a written document that contains summary of your educational background and work experience. You write a resume in order to apply for a job. A resume is the most important thing while you are applying for a job. On this resume, you write all the necessary information of your educational career and work experience. The resume is also very important for your manager to get the idea that you are eligible for this job or not. There are three different types of resumes. These are chronological resume, functional resume and combination resume. In this article, we will discuss one by one separately. We will also discuss the methods for writing them.

Chronological Resume:

Chronological resume is written in a reverse order. In chronological resume, first of all we write the current working position. Then write all the working positions in the reverse order. At last, there comes the first working position. In chronological resume, you write all the working experience in the reverse order along with the position at these particular departments. This type of resume is beneficial for those job seekers who have the strong educational career. If you are at the initial stage of your working career then this type of resume will not be helpful for you. In this regard, you need to try another type of resume.

Advantages: It is very easy to write. You don’t find any kind of difficulty to write chronological resume. It is also follows a steady structure. Steady structure means that you need to write the information in the reverse order. In this reverse order, you start from the top to the bottom without any pause. That’s why it follows the reverse order. Moreover, your manager will also find it easy to read this type of resume. In chronological resume, you also provide the dates of your working experience. In this way, the manager will also find it easy to know the time periods of your job experience. It is best to use on those job vacancies which requires the past experience.

Disadvantages: There are some disadvantages of chronological resume. On this resume, we mention all the job experience. Along with this job experience, we also provide the dates of all the jobs. In this way, when manager reads such type of resume he sees that gaps between the jobs. This leaves a bad impression on your career and your manager will think about that gap between the jobs. In this way, there is possibility that due to these gaps you will not be preferred for a particular job.

Functional Resume:

In functional resume, we focus on our skills and experience rather than on the chronological work history. In functional resume, we don’t need to add the work history at the first. Now, you will need to write the professional experience and skills on the top of the functional resume. A functional resume sometimes include the person’s skills in the form of resume summary on the top. In functional resume, there is no need of writing the work history at all. This type of resume is very useful for the new applicants because it requires no any kind of work experience and its details.

Advantages: This type of resume allows you to write the personal skills and abilities. There is possibility that your abilities and skills will be more accurate for any job than the other job applicants. This type of resume is also important for the new job applicants. Because new job applicants have no work experience and work history and there is no need to explain any type of work experience or work history in this type of resume. This is also very useful for those applicants who have some gap in their work history. As there is no need to mention the work experience or work history therefore it will not attracts the attention of your manager towards your job gaps.

Disadvantages: There are some disadvantages of writing such type of resume. This type of resume has no work experience at all. As there is no work experience in this type of resume then your manager will think that you are trying to hide your work experience, age and work gaps. This thing will leave a bad expression on your manager’s mind. This type of resume may be rejected due to the lack of information.

Combination Resume:

A combination resume is a combination of chronological resume and functional resume. On the top of this type of resume, there is written your abilities and skills. These abilities and skills should be according to the requirements of the job. You should not write those abilities and skills which are not according to the requirements of the job. Moreover, on the bottom of this type of resume, there is detailed history of your job. In this way, in this type of resume you have provided your personal skills and abilities along with the detailed work history.

Advantages: This type of resume is very beneficial for you because in it you have provided your abilities and skills along with the work history. In this way, your manager will check your work history and skills together and compares them with the job requirements. If it is according to the job requirements then he will select you for the job. With the help of this type of resume, your manager will not be able to reject your application due to the lack of information.

Disadvantages: There are also some disadvantages of this type of resume. In this type of resume, you provide the work history and if there is a gap in your work history then it will leave a bad impression on your manager. And, there is possibility that your application will be rejected due to this gap between the jobs. Moreover, if you are a fresh applicant then you can’t use this type of resume because you have no work experience and we are required to write the work experience at the bottom of this type of resume.

These are the basic three types of resumes. There are also some additional types of resumes like resume with profile, targeted resume, mini resume and nontraditional resume. Resume with profile contains the profile of applicant’s skills, abilities and goals that are related to that job. In targeted resume, we write those skills and abilities that are relevant to a particular job. A mini resume is used for the networking purposes. It contains the brief summary of your career highlights. In this only that information is written that is most relevant to your job. A nontraditional resume is unique version of resume. In this type of resume, we use the photos, images, graphs or other visuals. In this way, we can say that we can make any kind of resume according to the requirements of your job.
